Olivia Preye, Founder of Voice Yoga UK
Olivia works as a composer and music workshop leader. She trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama first as a jazz vocalist and then on the Mmus Leadership course. Over the last 12 years, she has led creative workshops in a range of contexts from psychiatric units to abandoned cinemas, from orchestral halls to farms in the U.K. and places including: India, West Africa, Indonesia, Singapore, Ireland, Japan and Bosnia.
Composing credentials include: Snapshot Songs (Barbican/Milton Court, 2014), Willow Baby (Kings Place, 2016), New Voices New Visions (2017-19, Worcester Cathedral) Borderlands (Gagglebabble, 2020), Hush Now (Courtyard Theatre 2019 -21) and Walk With Me (Online 2021 - present)
Olivia has received commissions from: BBC Radio 3 (The Verb), BBC Radio 1 (Rob Da Bank), I-D online, Gagglebabble, Pentabus, Paines Plough and Arts Council England.
Olivia is the founder of Voice Yoga UK, a practice which aims to guide participants towards stillness and self-reflection using a blend of vocal techniques and mindfulness. Voice Yoga brings together her expertise as a singer along with her experience of working as a music therapist and a yoga teacher. She has spent much time in India over the years where she has been studying Hindustani singing under renowned vocalist Priya Purshothaman.
